My First Book: Ripples
Leighanna Groeman prefers to go by Elle, but there aren’t many people she lets close enough to know that. Haunted by eerie hallucinations and a past unknown to her, Elle just tries to get by. When all she’s done is try to stay out of the way, invisible, life has other plans for her.
Her one school friend, Lanni, is not quite who she thinks he is, and the person who takes care of her when she escapes her father’s wrath could be so much more if she just admitted it. Although she’s used to going it alone, the help of the two most important people in her life are the reason she survives the threat of a supernatural creature that wants to bring its darkness into the world.
Elle’s tortured upbringing is expressed through her present thought and hidden trauma. She encounters her past and eventually the past of her family to understand the extent of her enemy’s power and how she has no choice but to stop him from causing similar pain to anyone else.
Elle Groeman has to save the world, and she just might save herself in the process.
CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE
and here’s why:
Re-reading my first book as I often do to remind myself of where I started, I noticed a lot, A LOT, of unacceptable errors that went beyond the two missing periods and more into the realm of cultural insensitivity.
I have been considering a rewrite/rerelease for a while and have finally found the motivation to clean up my baby and make her something precious to me again.

9/13: It is September! With 4 full responses from beta readers, I have a
lot of comments and suggestions to apply to a final round of edits to the
final version of “Ripples.” I have already started the process by doing a
round strictly for evaluating the quality of repetition and making
adjustments accordingly. With 44 days left until publication, a climax to
rewrite, and symbolism to strengthen, I am invigorated by the process
and more excited than ever for “Ripples” to be out in the world. I want
to hear every reaction, read every review, and watch every TikTok. And
please, oh please, make fan art. I crave it. I’ll ask again next month.
Stay engaged on socials until then!
8/9: Beta readers have seen my book and provided exactly what I was
hoping to hear, so I know exactly how to make the final touches so that
everything is ready to go in October! The cast is fuller and more present.
Supernatural rules are a little better explained. Hype for building on the
book for a related partner book is rising the more I work out these finishing
touches.
Share what you can because I actually think I want people to read this. Bizarre.
